Nedbank Technology - PMO

Nedbank is one of South Africa’s largest financial institutions and recognised for having one of the top 10 Project Management Offices globally. The PMO runs on tightly integrated governance and reporting frameworks, aligned with SAP financial systems, enabling precise tracking of project costs, ROI and delivery performance. Projects progress through a formal governance lifecycle, with regular board-level reviews to ensure alignment with business strategy and financial objectives.
Project Manager - Innovation & Transformation
I joined the Innovation & Transformation team in September 2015 following the successful deployment of the enterprise-wide FileNet platform. My role was to work with the rest of the team to rollout the additional Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions approved by the board through IBM.
Each solution was delivered as an independent project with its own budget, governance controls and technical specialists from both Nedbank and IBM. I led implementations across multiple technologies, including CMOD (Content on Demand), EDM (Enterprise Content Management), BPM (Workflow and Business process Management), Case Management and Document Capture & Imaging (via Extream).
These solutions were deployed as proofs of concept across selected business units to validate usability, operational benefit and scalability. The aim was to develop content management solutions that could be replicated across any business area with minimal cost and maximum consistency.
The ECM programme delivered significant value. Pilot deployments revealed critical insights such as the elimination of duplicate client accounts and the identification of fraudulent account activity via biometric capture, benefits that positioned the solutions for broader enterprise adoption.
I delivered the programme through its final stages before transitioning to the Infrastructure division to lead the bank’s major Data Centre relocation programme.

Requested by the Project Sponsor to move onto the ECM programme full-time within three months due to demonstrated value and strong delivery results.

Enhanced coordination between IBM specialists, developers and Nedbank’s technical teams, ensuring alignment and clarity across all implementation workstreams.
