The Investment Bank required the modernisation and upgrade of its SQL Trading Cluster to improve stability, performance and resilience for critical trading applications. Prior to the upgrade, trading and non-trading workloads shared ageing infrastructure, creating performance risks, operational constraints and limited failover capability.
I led the delivery of the full SQL cluster upgrade across the Trading and Non-Trading environments. This involved coordinating technical specialists, trading SMEs, infrastructure teams and database engineers to ensure the upgraded environment met regulatory, operational and performance requirements.
The upgrade included rebuilding the SQL environment across Production, QA and DR, refreshing physical and virtual architecture, improving storage configurations, and enhancing the cluster’s high-availability and failover capabilities. I coordinated end-to-end planning, environment readiness, change approvals, scheduling, testing cycles and controlled implementation.
The upgraded cluster delivered improved performance, dedicated stability for trading operations, cleaner separation between trading and non-trading workloads, and more reliable failover processes. This significantly reduced risk across the Capital division and supported future growth of trading systems.
